From Sketchnotes to Graphic Recording

A sketch note of Malcom Gladwell’s Spaghetti sauce talk from 2006

When Live Illustration first started off we used to show up at TEDx events and illustrate all sorts of different talks. In fact, illustrating a TED talk has become a great standby to hone one's skills.

One of our favourites is Malcom Gladwell’s Spaghetti Sauce lecture from the earliest days of TED.

There are many definitions of what we do, from sketchnoting through to graphic recording, scribing and beyond.

It might be a bit much to ask in this short post ‘What is the interdisciplinary nature of a cartoonist…? ’

At the end of the day what we do is LIVE Illustration.

So whether you like your drawing plain, spiced or extra chunky there is something unique about creating an image of a live event.

This visualisation of Choice, Happiness and Spaghetti Sauce has been drawn by our newest scribe Maya - welcome to the team Maya!
