Re-Thinking Volcanic Hazard Analysis with Communities at Risk

We were asked to scribe a packed day of geological expertise discussing volcanoes, landslides and earthquakes. This image enters the ‘Hall of Fame’ as it features several key elements that makes a great scribing experience. Firstly it manages to include some cartoonised scientific diagrams. Secondly it considers some quite epic concepts, all of these events can utterly devastate the countries and economies in which they occur, and extinguish life in the process. And finally it touched on the key factors of disaster management. Which is preparing for them, mainly through strong infrastructure. Our colonial legacy has left countries with weak governments and poor infrastructures, and that is what kills people when an earthquake strikes. Those points were explored further later in the day.
